Explore the Central Market
Budapest’s Central Market, also known as Nagycsarnok, is a vibrant place where Hungarian culture and gastronomy meet. This historic building, built in 1897, houses three levels of stalls offering everything from fresh produce to unique souvenirs.
On the ground floor, you’ll find traditional ingredients such as paprika, honey, sausages and local wines. Upstairs, you can sample typical dishes such as lángos (a kind of fried bread with different toppings) or goulash. The lower section is dedicated to fresh fish and other local products.
Local tip
Visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds and take advantage of the freshest produce.
